Booth’s Hyomei Antiseptic Antique Patent Medicine

Step back into the golden age of Victorian-era respiratory "quack" remedies with this authentic, antique Booth’s Hyomei Antiseptic container. Originally developed in the late 19th century by the R.T. Booth Company out of New York (and later operating from Ithaca, NY), Hyomei was heavily marketed as the definitive "Australian Dry-Air Treatment" to cure catarrh, asthma, bronchitis, hay fever, and common throat complaints.

The treatment relied on early inhalation therapy, where patients would drop a volatile, aromatic vegetable liquid—primarily composed of eucalyptus oil, alcohol, and guaiacol—into a specialized hard-rubber pocket inhaler to breathe in the medicinal vapors. This collectible features the iconic, bold typography and historical medical text that make early apothecary packaging so visually captivating.
